Daughters of Kathiawar is a celebration of the women of Kathiawar, a fabled corner of Gujarat, India, that lives in my imagination like a place pulled from an ancient Indian fairytale, a land suspended in time, and the motherland of my ancestors. Here women are adorned with traditional tattoos and vibrant patterned skirts known as chaniya cholis. Through generations of heartache and happiness, they have carried their stories, songs, beauty, and recipes.
I created this painting inspired by vintage Randal Maa lithographs as a tribute to the women of my own lineage. The mothers, daughters, and grandmothers whose lives and traditions continue to live through me.
Reproduced as a fine art giclée print, the original painting’s intricate details and vintage character are beautifully preserved, bringing an air of old-world elegance to your space.
A timeless piece for a collected home, intimate corner, or curated gallery wall.
